Tonsillitis, sinusitis, pharyngitis, otitis media, and quinsy are ear, nose, and throat infections. Septic abortion, salpingitis, puerperal pyrexia, and caesarian section prophylaxis are all examples of pelvic infections. Cystitis and pyelonephritis are two types of urinary tract infections. Abscesses, boils, carbuncles, and post-operative wound infections are all examples of skin and soft tissue infections. Infections in the gastrointestinal tract, septicaemia, endocarditis, and orthopaedic infections are all common.
